The history of the bison
...and at the same time the good reason why we are called "Wrapping Bison" ! The story of the bison serves as an impressive example of what can be achieved if the world, with its animals and its landscapes, is treated with more care. Almost extinct animal species, plant species, flora and fauna can recover almost completely if we optimize our way of life - even in small ways. Sound like a fairy tale? Read on!
First
The history of bison is closely linked to the cultures of the indigenous peoples of North America. For thousands of years, bison roamed the vast landscapes of the USA in huge herds and provided the indigenous peoples with valuable food, clothing and materials.
Then
With the arrival of European settlers, bison were hunted almost to extinction. By the late 19th century, the once huge herds had shrunk to just a few hundred animals .
Today
Conservation efforts in the 20th century helped revive bison populations, and today they are considered a symbol of conservation success and an iconic species of the American West.
"Yellowstone Forever":
Wrapping Bison is a member! "Yellowstone Forever" supports a variety of projects in the world's first national park - from sustainability initiatives to the Yellowstone Wolf Project and the Youth Conservation Corps. The protection of the bison that live there is also a priority. Wrapping Bison has donated annually to the "Yellowstone Forever" organization since the company was founded. In this way, we are also making a statement in the USA, the home of the bison.
